Invite the UN World Stop Action ISIS Iraq Destroy Civilization

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, invites the international community to stop the act of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that destroy historic sites in Iraq.

UN Secretary-General's statement came hours after Iraq's Ministry of Antiquities and Tourism called the US-led international coalition to roll out air strikes against ISIS to protect the historic sites.



ISIS sparked outrage after they destroyed the ancient city of Nimrud and destroyed many ancient artifacts in the museum of the city of Mosul.

Now, ISIS destroying the ancient city of Hatra, which is more than 2,000 years old and entered into the UNESCO world heritage list.

"The secretary-general called on the international community to immediately stop these terrorist activities and combat the smuggling of historical artifacts," said Ban Ki-moon through a spokeswoman.

"The destruction of our cultural heritage as it is a war crime and all perpetrators must be held accountable for his actions," said Ban.

The destruction of historic sites in Iraq occurred in the occupied territories of the country ISIS, especially in Nineveh province, where Iraqi security forces do not have to respond to the destruction.

ISIS in the occupied territories are 1,800 of 12,000 historical heritage of Iraq, including several ancient cities such as Nimrud and Hatra are over 2,000 years old.
