France protested against the new draft euro coin

The new design for 2 Euro coins depicting the war in Europe drew protests from the French government.

In the coin there is a picture monument peringatakan Lion Hill in Waterloo, near the capital of Belgium, Brussels.

Belgian government proposed a new coin design proficiency level to commemorate the battle of Waterloo on June 18, 1815.

But France protested and through an official letter saying that the new draft was considered to contain a 'negative meaning' to most European citizens.

The letter, among others, states that the war Waterloo -which beat Napoleon- an event that has echoes of memories with Europe and not just a military conflict.

Added coin it will invite reactions 'unpleasant' governments during the Euro currency users are trying to strengthen unity and cooperation.

However a diplomat who asked not to be named said he was surprised by the French reaction, 'two centuries later, a proposal to change the image hills can cause a stir in Paris'.

Belgium will now have to decide to maintain the design or change it and if it stays on rancanannya then require the support of a majority of users euros.
